We began today with a wrap up of our field trip. Students recorded their thoughts about the most powerful piece of art and how they saw power represented in the artwork. Tables discussed these and students completed an online survey about the trip. In MOH we talked about thank you notes. Each student will make two thank you cards for homework. There is a document posted in the Google Classroom with the information they need.
In Construction Concepts students worked to apply their knowledge and create straw cube "houses" in groups. It was a great experience, fun but challenging. Only one group actually got their cube to stand without assistance. However, in analyzing the activity, all groups were able to distinguish something that worked in their model, what they would do differently and why their model didn't work. We talked about how sometimes we learn just as much from the process as we do from the actual product.
Students continued learning about Shakespeare through stations in Creative Expression. I also introduced the Creative Person Project. This is the culminating project for our unit, and it's not due until January 12th. For homework this week students will choose their people and share the guidelines with you.
We also took time to finalize our Marble Jar celebration today. This will be next Tuesday and your child has a letter all about it.
Homework this week:
1. Show your parents the Marble Jar letter.
2. Create at least two thank you cards. Use the Google Doc to help you.
3. Share the Creative Person Project with your family. Choose your person and have your parent sign the "time management tool".
4. Bridges: learn about four types of bridges. The assignment is posted in the Google Classroom.
