Students spent the rest of their day working as NASA scientists. They collaborated in teams to learn about crystals and what's important about growing them on the ISS. Next the teams chose two types of crystals to try to grow, then did research to determine the materials needed and the steps to follow. After having their written plans approved, they followed their designs to create the experiments. All I did was pour the hot water! They're very excited to see what will happen next. We ended with two video clips showing real life applications with crystals grown on the ISS. See below for a few photos of their work.
For homework students will learn more about da Vinci and complete their MOG charts. There are more directions and resources posted in the Google Classroom.
Our field trip to the Morehead Planetarium is next Thursday! This will be students' STRIDE day for the week. They will not need their notebooks. Please see the reminders I sent home and feel free to email or call if you have questions.
