In Roller Coaster Physics, students continued using a pulley board and weights to investigate Newton's Second Law through two more experiments. Ask your child to explain the investigations and what we learned. I was very impressed with their group discussions and how they used scientific vocabulary in writing their conclusions. We ended with a video clip explaining Newton's Second Law at work in football. For homework students will summarize what we learned and how it relates to the Second Law in their science journals. I've asked them to stick to one paragraph of about five sentences as we work on pulling out main ideas.
We ended our day in Probability with students continuing to investigate the game "Roller Derby" and develop a strategy based on the theoretical probability. We will continue here next week.
Science is the only homework this week.
Next week students will come to STRIDE at 8:00 since it's an early release day. We'll do some more probability and then move into our Marble Jar Celebration!
