In Roller Coaster Physics we explored Newton's Third Law. I demonstrated a "rocket balloon" with the help of a few volunteers, then we viewed a video clip and some images to deepen our understanding of action and reaction. Ask your child about it. Students experimented with Newton's Cradle both hands on and electronically, and of course, we viewed a clip of how this applies to tackling in football. We ended with a preview of next week...students will design and build their own rocket cars, testing them and applying Newton's Laws. For homework students will write a summary of what they learned about Newton's Third Law and complete "Predict the Motion" and "Which Law Is It?" to practice applications.
Television commercials were our focus in Marketing. We analyzed a few commercials for target audience, techniques, and attention grabbers, then learned what's important to remember when developing a commercial. Marketing Firms worked to plan and script TV commercials for their products. We will finish these next week, filming them using the green screen.
During lunch today two students shared their new robots. It was cool to see what they could do, and we all enjoyed learning more about them!
Homework this week:
1. Write a summary of what you learned about Newton's Third Law.
2. Complete "Predict the Motion" and "Which Law Is It?"
3. Probability: Finish "Applications, Connections, Extensions" through #13. #14 through #18 are optional for homework.
Finally, see below for some photos of STRIDE from December.
