Much of our day was spent in Marketing. Each student presented his/her radio ad to the marketing firm. Students worked together to put the best parts into the final radio ad and used the iTouches to select some sound effects to support it. Firms practiced and then recorded their ads. Finally we listened to them, analyzing each for the persuasion techniques used. They are fantastic! You can hear them by clicking on the buttons below. Marketing homework this week is to bring in a print ad that is interesting to you. We will use these in our study. Also, please save product packages and send them in as well.
Probability involved further investigation using spinners. Students worked together to collect experimental data, calculate experimental and theoretical probability, and determine "fairness" of spinners and games using spinners. We will discuss their work next week.
Our "Tuesday" STRIDE day wasn't perfect, and students in Battle of the Books and Orchestra had to make a few concessions, but it was much better than only meeting for 1.5 hours tomorrow. We'll be back on our normal "Wednesday" STRIDE day next week.
