We spent our next block of time on checking accounts in Money. First we reviewed vocabulary with a SMART Board activity. Then students learned about banking accounts and checking by viewing and chatting about some short video clips full of information. Next we walked through the parts of the check together and I modeled writing one. Finally, students wrote several practice checks. They took their time and did a great job! We'll put ledgers and checks together in a final activity next time.
Using students' homework, we added van Gogh to our class MOG chart. We found that he had many influences, and it was a great culmination of our study of the artist. This led to Creative Expression. We had our own art museum exhibit and walked around viewing everyone's van Gogh artwork and viewed the movie of our paintings. You can see it below. Our next creative genius is Shakespeare. Students will learn more about him through stations. They will complete the first one for homework, reading and analyzing two articles about Shakespeare and classifying the information. More detailed directions are posted in the Google Classroom. A few students need to finish writing checks and/or completing the Puzzle on a Secret Club as well.
