There were two sets of letters from Grandma Stamps today. She let us know that she spent a few days in the hospital getting a pacemaker, but she's doing fine. The children were so excited to hear from her and wanted to write back right away. They even wanted to incorporate stickers like she does, so we spread them all over the floor and they chose what would fit with their writings. Finally, we discussed examples of kindness expressed by Grandma Stamps and how we can emulate these in our own interactions with others.
It took the rest of our day for the Creative People projects. Our classroom was oozing with creativity! Students shared about their creative geniuses and the audience took turns completing peer evaluations. Lots of insightful analysis and connections were shared. At the end we took a little time for students to look at the projects more closely. I will be posting digital projects in the Google Classroom at students' request. Students were so intrigued that the Paparazzi Pals didn't take one photo.
And last but not least....we're going on a field trip! I was so excited that I had to share it with them early this morning! On Tuesday, March 6th we will be traveling to Raleigh for a host of experiences and investigations that connect with our STRIDE curriculum. Your child has a letter all about it, and I have posted websites in the Google Classroom with more information. We'll need chaperones, so please let me know if you can join us!
Homework this week:
1. Return signed field trip forms.
2. Learn more about Descartes-students have a passage to read and process for their MOG charts and a video to watch and game to play in the Google Classroom to learn about the four quadrant grid.
We're a little behind on closing up our first semester units due to the snow days, but we should wrap things up next week.
