Next it was time for site plans in From the Ground Up. We reviewed scale, analyzed the building regulations related to site plans, and I modeled deciding on placement. Students worked to place their plans on their sites and create "minis". This was tricky! Ask your child his/her scale size. Landscaping and extra features like patios and pools were also created. There will be more time to continue this creativity in future lessons.
Then it was back to bridge companies. Each company received the job applications of a different company. They circulated them, read and analyzed, and made recommendations. I returned these to the original company and they made the final decisions. Each student has a job! Next week there will be job training!
Finally students began learning about architecture from Ancient Egypt to the Renaissance Era through a scavenger hunt and Google Slide Show.
Both homework assignments are posted in the Google Classroom.
1. Students should view the presentation for their jobs, record thoughts, and write a paragraph about how they will do this job well.
2. Complete the architecture scavenger hunt working through the Google Slide Show.
It was great to see everyone get their awards today as well! I can hardly believe we're into the fourth nine weeks. I talked with students about "finishing" the STRIDE Curriculum. Bridges and From the Ground Up will be first every week with Architecture next and we will most likely have a "Mystery Powders Day" after EOG. We'll get it done!
